On January 4, 2007, the ground-breaking ceremony of VINASAT-1 TT&C took place at Que Duong (Ha Tay province).

With its worth of VND 12 billion, this is an important item in the project of "Launching Vietnam telecommunications satellite - VINASAT" which has been assigned to the Vietnam Posts and Telecommunications Group (VNPT).

This construction will be built at an estimated cost of VND10 billion to set up a stable operation control system for VINASAT-1, meeting domestic and overseas services once the satellite is launched into orbit.

Delivering a speech at the ground-breaking ceremony, Minister of Posts and Telematics Do Trung Ta said that the VINASAT project is a new development step of the entire Vietnam P & T sector in general and VNPT in particular, showing the development of staff in mastering modern technologies and proving the commitment of the sector that by 2008 the communications quality in Vietnam will no longer depend on distance and terrain.

Especially, Minister Do Trung Ta pointed out: “We still have not experience too much in launching the satellite for the first time because the investment for the project is big and the time schedule for the project is very pressing. Therefore it is necessary to thoroughly prepare for every step to ensure the success, safety and pace”.
